The songs of Robin Tom Rink often deals of feelings of absence and loneliness. When Elmar Sander created the cd, cover and booklet design, he used crucial paintings of art history less their main protagonists. The “Monk At The Sea” by C. D. Friedrich without the Monk, “In Bed” by Toulouse-Lautrec without the intimate lover, “Napoleon And His Rock Limpet” by W. Turner without Napoleon and his rock limpet. The “Isle Of Dead” by Arnold Böcklin has an appearance of lifeless loneliness without the sailors, while the key character of van Gogh’s “Night Café” already left the scene. Or did he never attended?
The Small Hours got very positive reviews and some reviewers also mention the artwork as lovable and and estimable.
